CHIMNEY SMOKING FIREPLACE |

| A fireplace smokes when the chimney has insufficient draft. There are several common factors that contribute to insufficient draft: the chimney is too short, the flue has too many turns or is too small, or the firebox is the wrong size. Build up of creosote can also be a factor. |

| An easy, cost effective solution is to install an exhaust fan at the top of the chimney. NFC Services uses Exhausto (www.exhausto.com) high efficiency exhaust fans. There are alternative methods to correcting insufficient draft including: extending the height of the chimney, increasing the diameter of the flue, or adding direct vent air intake.
