Annual Chimney Cleaning and Inspection Special $149.  Call today (610) 809-8197 to schedule your chimney cleaning for 2012-13 and get our 19-point inspection and your chimney cleaned. Chimney cleaning, or Chimney Sweeping is the process of removing loose soot from the firebox, smoke chamber, and chimney liner. The large majority of chimney fires is from build up of creosote – a by product of burning wood. Creosote is combustible and as it builds up it can limit the air flow out of the chimney. This can be very dangerous and it’s why we recommend annual inspections and cleanings.Your chimney should be cleaned and inspected annually to ensure it functions properly. NFC Services performs chimney sweep services in Delaware, Montgomery and Bucks Counties.
Chimney Cleaning Process

Step 1: An NFC technician will enter the home and cover the area in front of firebox with a tarp. The fireplace should not be used the night before a scheduled cleaning.

Step 2: The technician will inspect the damper for proper operation and check for any immediate concerns.

Step 3: The technician will brush loose soot from grate, firebox walls, and smoke chamber.

Step 4: The technician will clean the chimney liner utilizing brush.

Step 5: The technician will perform a 19 point safety inspection.

Step 6: The technician will report anything listed as unsatisfactory upon inspection.
The chimney cleaning process takes approximately 20-30 minutes
Creosote Cleaning

Creosote cleaning is the process of removing creosote that has accumulated within the chimney liner. Creosote is a tar like residue that builds-up along the walls of the chimney liner. Creosote is flammable, and accounts for 90% of all chimney fires, and involves utilizing chains, a drill, and drill extensions.
There are 3 degrees of creosote build-up as follow:

1st Degree: Creosote residue covers the chimney liner. Use caution when using fireplace.

Recommendations: Fireplace may be used.

2nd Degree: Creosote residue has built-up on the walls of the chimney liner, and may potentially affect draft. A chimney fire is possible. Use extreme caution.

Recommendations: Do not operated the fireplace until a creosote cleaning has been performed.

3rd Degree: Extremely heavy creosote deposits have build-up throughout the chimney. The build-up has affected draft. A chimney fire imminent. Do not use fireplace.

Recommendations: The fireplace should not be used until a creosote cleaning has been performed. This process will differ in time depending on chimney size and amount of build-up
